Description
The Arc-en-Ciel network comprises four areas enabling users to travel north-south and east-west within the Nord department.
As of 1 September 2017, the Hauts-de-France regional council has been responsible for the organisation and funding of:
- Interurban lines: the area is served by a consortium of several transport providers. The Arc-en-Ciel interurban network comprises around 118 scheduled lines, accessible to all users and available using the Pass Pass card shared with several other networks. Particular attention is paid with respect to persons with disabilities.
- School lines: The Hauts-de-France regional council provides interurban transport to enable pupils to travel to and from school, under the same conditions of access to transport as for the 2017-2018 school year. Approximately 228,000 pupils, or 20% of the 1,200,000 pupils in the Hauts-de-France region, use school transport (as of the start of the 2016-2017 school year), from nursery through to the end of high school (51,000 nursery/primary pupils, 95,000 middle school pupils, and 82,000 high school pupils).
The departmental authorities are responsible for school transport for pupils and students with disabilities.
